We're here in Versailles, launching not just one great product but three. The Spectre 13 unlike anything prior is really going to set a mark in the industry. So, to celebrate what we're embarking on, Spectre had to go a little bit further. So we partnered with two young artists and what we're able to do with this partnership is really bring it to another level. Take the Spectre line and really go that much more.
When I design jewelry I like to think of them as little sculptures. With this laptop design I took a similar approach and wanted the laptop to feel more like a piece of art. The Spectre is a very precisely made notebook and the way I used the pattern becomes also something that's partly chaotic. There is a blossom pattern but there is also a peacock, a butterfly and these elements, they work together in a kind of strange harmony.
The entire laptop is plated in 18 carat yellow gold and there is over one carat of handset diamonds on the logo. Wanted to create this very moody nighttime landscape image. Theres a lot of flowing lines. The font I chose was engraved by a hand engraver, it's kind of a dying art these days its rare to find someone whose really good at it and I wanted to reflect that in the laptop as well. This combination of the handmade, with technology, is something I find very exciting.
The partnership we've had with these two artists is really something special. They've brought a way of re-interpreting these artisan qualities. It was really the perfect match as we looked at really trying to reinvent obsession with this product. I can't think of a better place other than Versailles to really celebrate that.
I'm very excited to see the real thing and to hold it and to see the way the light works on it, it really comes to life. I want to thank Jess and Tord for their creations, so again thank you very much for coming today.....
