For one, the Disney version didn't have shirtless Alexander Skarsgård running around in cargo capris and rubbing up against animals, with abs that look like they were carved out by Michelangelo himself. Its Jane is also fierce as hell, probably fiercer than any of the other Janes in any of these other Tarzans (holy crap there are so many). Oh and also, this Tarzan movie promises to be way steamier. In the trailer for the upcoming Legend of Tarzan, Margot Robbie's Jane can be seen talking back to the villainous Christoph Waltz (possibly spitting on him also?), just a small glimpse into her anti-damsel in distress. Well apparently she's also got a lot of fight in her in the bedroom too (or wherever in the jungle they do the deed). Entertainment Weekly reports Robbie actually punched her hunky co-star Skarsgård while filming a sex scene together. Director David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) said, "They’re doing this love scene together, and I said [to Robbie], 'Just slap Alex while you’re making love, just kind of give him a punch.' It was sort of an earthy, sensual moment of her enjoying sex with Alex, and the only bruise he picked up during the entire shoot was probably that punch from Margot. Which says a lot about her feistiness." Skarsgård also commented on Robbie's Jane saying, "It was very important that we didn’t want it to feel archaic or dated, where it’s like, tough guy has to save the poor girl. You have to feel that she’s strong and independent, and when you cast Margot, you’ll definitely get that." As a recent fan of Margot Robbie, I'm here for it.
